Pediatric Sleep Over Policy:
If your child is a patient at NUMC, one parent may spend the night.
Please let your nurse know if you want to stay.
Parents should be aware that nursing care, which may interrupt their sleep, is our first priority.

Parking & Directions
By Car
The Nassau University Medical Center is located on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow between the Meadowbrook and Wantagh State Parkways and slightly east of Eisenhower Park.

From the North and West
When coming from the West on the Long Island Expressway (LIE) take Exit 38 to the Northern State Parkway (NSP). The LIE comes directly from the Queens-Midtown Tunnel and Manhattan. The Northern State Parkway is a direct extension of the Grand Central Parkway.

From the Northern State Parkway take Exit 31A to the Meadowbrook State Parkway. Exit the Meadowbrook Pky at M5-East. (Please note that M5-East is about 1 mile further south than Exit M4, M5 West). This will bring you onto Hempstead Turnpike. Proceed along Hempstead Turnpike about one mile to the Medical Center (onyour left) which at 18 stories is the tallest building in Nassau County.
The trip from Manhattan to the Nassau University Medical Center takes about 45 minutes by car.

From the South and West
The Brooklyn-Queens Expressway can be approached from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and the bridges. The Belt Parkway going east becomes the Southern State Parkway as it crosses into Nassau County.

Continue on the Southern State Parkway to Exit 22N-the Meadowbrook Parkway. Exit the Meadowbrook Parkway at M5 East and stay on Hempstead Turnpike until you reach the Medical Center (about one mile).

From the North and East
Traveling West on the LIE use Exit 42 to the Northern State Parkway.

From the Northern State Parkway, exit (33) onto the Wantagh State Parkway. Continue on the Wantagh State Parkway to Hempstead Turnpike-West (Exit W-3). The Medical Center is approximately one mile on your right.

From the South and East
Proceed West on the Southern State Parkway to the Wantagh-North. Exit the Wantagh on Hempstead Turnpike (W-3) and proceed West for approximately one mile to the Medical Center.

Parking
A parking lot for visitors and patients is located on the Carman Avenue (West) side of the Medical Center. The lot is operated by Kinney Corporation and is open from 6AM to Midnight.
One hour parking costs $2
Between one and two hours the cost is $3.50

By Bus
Routes that stop at or near the Medical Center include:
  • N46 serving Hempstead, East Meadow, North Bellmore LIRR Station
  • N47 serving Hempstead, East Meadow, North Bellmore, NUMC
  • N48/49 serving Hempstead, NUMC, Hicksville, Jericho Quad

By Train
The Medical Center can also be reached by way of the Long Island Railroad. Take the LIRR to either the Hempstead, Westbury or Hicksville stations. These stations are only a short bus or taxi ride from the Medical Center.

By Air
Both the John F. Kennedy Airport and LaGuardia Airport are 45 minute drives from the Medical Center. The Long Island Airport Limousine Service will transport you to the Long Island Marriott Hotel in Uniondale and from there you can take a taxi or bus to the Medical Center. Direct taxi and limousine service from the airport is also available.
